Workshop

This workshop in term 1 and 2, 2018 will introduce the basics of art and the art-making process in an easy, accessible way with fun projects, while exploring various mediums and techniques used through many master pieces by brilliant artists. Also students will be introduced to the language of art so that they can begin using art terms to discuss works of art.

8 key art elements which will be covered in each sessions are: point, line, shape, texture, form, tone, colour and space and art movements are : Abstract art, Cubism, Expressionism, Fauvism, Impressionism, Modern art, pop art and surrealism.

2018 Term 1

Week 1. Bad Hair Days and me with butterfly wings! (Ink pen drawing and picture collage)

Week 2. The Miro’ Finale! (Watercolour painting with Surrealism)

Week 3. Creating a Lichtenstein comic-book style Selfie

(digital media with Modern art )

Week 4. CUT-OUTS with Matisse! (Collage with Favuism art)

Week 5. Designing my own Fantasy Animal or Nature! (Mixed Media with Surrealism)

Week 6. My Picasso face! (Cardboard sculpture with Cubism)

Week 7. Still-life charcoal drawings (Observation black and white charcoal drawing on brown craft card)

Week 8. My Room Vs Gogh’s Room! (Linear perspective drawing and oil pastel painting)

Week 9. Kandinsky’s circles in Aboriginal squares! (Kandinsky’s colour theory)

Week 10. Wall painting by using silhouettes! (Collaboration works on the wall)

2018 Term 2

Week 1. Screaming Art with Munch! (Mixed media with expressionism)

Week 2. A portrait of myself on a cotton bag (printing onto Fabric with pop art)

Week3. Printing lines with Klee! (Expressionist landscape)

Week4. Peeping it real with Keith Haring (sculpture with pop art)

WeeK5. My Birthday Numbers with Demuth! (op art )

Week6. Claude Monet Art Project! (Acrylic on canvas with impressionism)

Week7. Aboriginal rain stick making! (Sculpture with Aboriginal art)

Week 8-9. Yayoi Kusama self-portrait project! ( painting and performance)

Week10. Giving a new breath to old furniture! (installation, abstract art )

  • All contents of workshop are arranged based on ‘VICTORIAN CURRICULUM; Visual arts ’.
  • For art discussing, analysing, interpreting and evaluating practices, there will an annual class excursion to NGV (National College of Victoria)
  • High quality art materials are used in class for better effect.
